The Roobaab Web Application

The web-based component of Roobaab is a publishing and collaboration platform, designed for Workgroups, Project Teams or Professional Communities.

Why does my community need Roobaab?

Communities need a platform that encourages its members to create and share information for professional and collaborative purposes.
Communities have a growing requirement to easily publish some of this same information onto the web for public consumption.
Roobaab is a fully-hosted, community-based, web publishing and collaboration platform. It enables community members to share information and collaborate easily, and also selectively publish that same information, appropriately filtered, onto the web. 

What can I do with Roobaab?

• Publish your community news and views via a multi-user blogging engine. Restrict it to just a select group of users, or let the entire world see it. You decide.
   
• Document management. Create simple or complex documents that can be edited and discussed by other community members. Attach any type of file to your documents.
   
• Manage your events calendar. Email and SMS alerts means you'll never miss another important event again.
   
• Central directory of contacts and websites. Maintain an up-to-date shared directory that contains all of your relevant contacts and website links.
   
• Serious Social Networking. Every user has a profile page which is linked to their content, the messaging system and their contact details. Explore the really useful side of social networking.
   
• Granular access control. You decide who can read or edit each item of content. Create totally private content that only you can see, or create a truly collaborative document that all of your users can read and contribute to. Publish any item of content to your public website for the world to see.
   
• Integrated messaging and commenting. The ability to send single or multiple messages to other community members by email or SMS means you can always stay in touch, wherever you are. You can also comment on any item of content, which will in turn automatically notify the content author of your comment.
   
• Email alerts andTwitter. Users receive daily update emails containing details of all the content that has been added or updated in the last 24 hrs. Twitter feeds ensure that your wider community is always kept up to date.
   
• Tasklists (beta). A great to-do list module that allows you to add as much (or as little) information about your current tasks as you like.
   
• Mobile access (beta). Access all types of content securely from your mobile device. Works on wide range of devices with full commenting and messaging facility.
   
• Streaming multimedia (beta). Publish videos of conferences, presentations or any type of event easily to the community and onto your website.

The content management facilities within the Roobaab web application allow superb asynchronous collaboration.  But what about those times when you want to really meet your collaborators?  We offer a way to bring the team together without bringing the team together - seamless integration of meetings in a 3D Persistent Immersive Environment.  Whilst working in the Roobaab web application, you can see at a glance which of your fellow community members are logged in, and choose to invite a selection of them to meet you in a persistent 3D meeting space at the touch of a button.

• Choice of platform: Meetings can be launched in Second Life or OpenSim
   
• Control of privacy: Meet in a public space for networking or a totally private space for security. OpenSim meetings allow an entirely private behind the firewall solution
   
• Communicate naturally: VoIP and text chat immediately available in meeting
   
• Keep accurate records: Text chat logged in the Roobaab system in real time and added to Roobaab as a persistent document that can later be the focus of comments and discussion
   
• Talk about content: Content from Roobaab, or any other web source available to view and discuss on a shared web browser in the meeting space [1]
   
• Everyone can participate: Ability for participants with limited resources to access the meeting in real time via text chat directly on the meeting web page.
   
• Unique tools: Integrated tools in the 3D environment including a sticky note board and high visibility pointer, with more on the way.
